Digital Marketing & Search Engine Optimization

Test, tune and track your site’s search ranking and conversion performance

We combine the knowledge of what search engines are looking for with solid marketing philosophy to improve both your site’s visibility in search engines and to enhance its ability to speak meaningfully to visitors. Many SEO (search engine optimization) services focus solely on search engine ranking, but if your visitors aren’t impressed, your high ranking will have done you no good.

We provide a three-step approach to improving your results:

Step 1: Test

Website Audit

Discover what’s already working and what’s not with an SEO website audit.

Step 2: Tune

Take Action

Turn what you discover into action! Fix problems and enhance assets or run an ad campaign.

Step 3: Track

Monitor Progress

Set up Search Monitoring to get progressive information about ongoing performance.

Step 1: Test

Foundational Website Audit

Does your site have what Google is looking for? Find out what you’re missing and fix it!

When we run a website audit, we’ll check to see if you’re ticking the boxes that Google is looking for and if not, we’ll let you know what needs to be done.  We’ll give you the results in a report, and schedule a call to explain what it all means. (If you haven’t done this before, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that there are often some quick and easy changes that you can do to help improve your ranking.)

SPEED, PERFORMANCE & USABILITY

Run a speed test, check for mobile friendliness, navigability, and some other fundamental elements that can affect your search ranking.

SITE’S CURRENT SEARCH OPTIMIZATION

Is local schema present and correctly configured? Does site have a current and accurate XML site map? Are pages structured correctly for optimal search indexing?

SECURITY

Do you have an SSL certificate and is it configured correctly? Does your site have security features installed and running?

Google Analytics & Search Console

Do you have either or both of these and are they properly configured and cross linked? If analytics is present, get a baseline overview of recent traffic statistics and visitor activity.

Social Media and Reviews

Do you have any social media accounts and are they easily found? Are they configured and cross linked correctly? Do you have reviews on any of the common review sites and how do those look?

Features for local business

Does your business have a Google My Business account and is it completely filled out? Does your website have Local Business Schema installed and configured?

At the end we give you a report letting you know what’s working well and what may need to be changed or updated to achieve better results.

For most clients, we recommend repeating the Audit once a year. This will allow us to make sure your site is still meeting Google’s standards and recommendations and that you are taking full advantage of whatever means are available to easily improve and maintain your rank.

Step 2: Tune

Take Action

Depending on what was discovered during a website audit, your “action” could be a variety of things, and we will let you know which of these items are likely to affect your site’s performance the most. While you will probably find some of these action items things that you are capable of handling yourself, you may find others that you would like help with. 9 Planets Web Design can help with most of your Search Engine Optimization needs. Here are a few of the services that we can provide:

Website usability and content improvements

Your site is only as good as its content! We can’t stress enough the need for site copy that will actually engage your site’s visitors enough to turn them into customers. The accuracy, readability and relevance of your content also contributes strongly to your placement in search results. We can help you craft compelling content based on keyword research and analysis. Just ask us about copywriting, keyword research and on-page SEO.

Usability and accessibility is next in line. How your information is presented and what is said can make a critical difference in whether or not your visitor is engaged or leaves the site. Usability and accessibility of your website’s interface (including mobile-friendliness) and the way it presents your content is key to whether your users (and search crawlers) can actually find your relevant content, so it is crucial to follow at least some very foundational rules. We can fix these types of issues with your site. Ask us about usability and accessibility optimization.

Local Business SEO

For local businesses, there’s a checklist of things that you can do up front that don’t take a lot of maintenance (or ongoing costs), and will get you the most the most bang for your buck. We like to focus on those items and often they will be among our top recommendations for additional tweaks. If you would like our help setting up Local SEO, just let us know.

Reviews, Reviews, Reviews!

Reviews can increase your local and organic rank and give you a chance to reach leads that are outside the circle of your existing clients. We can help you create a plan to contact past and future clients that fits in with your existing business operations so that you can easily obtain reviews. Reviews also need to be monitored. In the case of a negative review, we give you a set of guidelines for working with the client to see if you can improve their experience and get them to update their review. If you would like help setting up or getting more reviews for your business, just reach out.

Social Media Setup & Planning

Social media channels are a great way to see and be seen. Setting up profiles and getting reviews on sites like Yelp, Google My Business and Facebook can get you new visitors/clients/customers. Sites like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube can help you show what you know and who you are to get people interested in your business.

Step 3: Track

Local Search Tracking & Managing

The great thing about Local SEO is that once you’ve laid the groundwork, you often don’t have to keep putting thousands of dollars a month in to maintain your position. But you do want to make sure you’re tracking your ranking and monitoring how Google is seeing your site.

If you’ve already made the initial investment and your site is ranking well, you want to know that it continues to rank well.  If Google finds something wrong with your site, you want to know as soon as possible – not 6 or 12 months later.

Our search engine managing packages will track factors that can affect your Google ranking and site usability. We have three packages available to benefit various budgets.

The Local Search Tracking package provides a single dashboard to track all of your stats.

  • It automatically checks Google once a week to see where you are ranking for the keywords that are important to you.
  • It pulls in information from multiple sources into one dashboard so you can see how people are interacting and reacting to your business online.
    • Google Analytics
    • Google My Business
    • Reviews from Google, Facebook, Yelp and more
    • Facebook and Twitter

The Local Search Manager Package includes all of the tracking reports above, plus we actively monitor alerts from Google Search Console, create weekly Google My Business posts which increases visibility for you listing, and monitor and tweak your Google My Business listing as needed.

With the Local Search Advisor package, we perform an in-depth, quarterly review of your site’s ranking, review traffic analytics and audit your website. We’ll provide a report showing any recommendations to improve ranking, traffic or conversions. If it looks like you’re continuing to do well without any further action, we may not recommend any changes.

We’ll set up spending limits with you at the outset, so if you need something immediate (your site is down!) we can take care of it right away, or if you’d prefer, we can just notify you of any issues along with recommendations and you can choose what action to take.
